Return of The Blog (and Breaking News)

Alright, I realize that it's been roughly a month (or more) since my last post, about the iMac Refresh. Well, now the new iMac is already on sale in the U.S. of A, Apple fans here in Indonesia will need to wait for the ridiculously-thin AIO desktop. One good advantage of getting last in launch, though, is that we'll get to see the reviews from the professionals first. Should the product has defects (got blown off easy, messy internals, etc.), we can avoid buying it and keep the hard-earned dough for the next generation product next year :p As in other news, the iPhone5 has finally landed here, with still its 'revolutionary' price of Rp7,999,999.00 for factory-unlocked models. For those of you who are eager to get one but doesn't have enough cash, maybe you should take a look at the contracts telco operators like Telkomsel and Indosat are offering. Be sure to simulate your cash flow in the next 12 months, though... or you'll get burned. Meanwhile, ATIV Smart ...

Ramadan, A Month for All

I'm not a Muslim, but I do enjoy the benefits of Ramadan month. I know that Muslims are joyful of Ramadan, because of fasting. By fasting, they not only fix their relationship with God by pushing down their hunger and thirst, but also have some kind of diet. Later in Lebaran (a month after Ramadan is called so in Indonesia), many shops and department stores, including major ones, will give out insane discounts to their products and merchandises.  But I don't think that I have yet to see the benefits until today. I've just read that a telco operator in Indonesia, AXIS, has a very tempting promotion regarding to their data plan. Yes, until 31st of August, all AXISPro Subscribers will have a speed bump for up to 7.6mbps (a nice treat for HSPA+ devices), and the FUP will also be tripled! ^^ If you want to know more about the details, hit the source link at the bottom of this post. Oh, and for your information, if you're an existing subscriber, you should be able to e...

Image
Does any of you still rocking the original Galaxy S (or i9000)? I do... and if any of you OG owners out there want the latest version of Android (unofficially, of course, since Samsung only treats us up to Gingerbread value-pack update), then your wish just got granted. For real, you ask? Alright, hit the break and I'll tell you the rest.

Microsoft Surface, Could This be It?

Image
This tablet might be an iPad replacement for me :p Yesterday, Microsoft made a move that could mark its comeback in the Techno market. Yes, they've finally joined in the tablet parade, which is currently flooded with Android tablets and iPads. The software giant unveiled the "Microsoft Surface", which might be the real deal "Tablet PC" with a PC-capable computing power. The design seems pretty attractive to me, with its kickstand and built-in thin keyboard. Oh, and they also come with optional pen input powered with digital ink. I've seen e-ink technology in Amazon's Kindle reader and it's amazing! It's as if you were looking at a real physical ink, and it won't itch your eyes, too. Okay, design aside... but is this newcomer worth our while? Let's find out after the break :D

New Retina Macbook Pro

Image
Stunning, isn't it? Okay, so yesterday, Apple finally carried out the most-anticipated WWDC Keynote, which talks about the future of iOS, OSX, and of course, their Mac hardware. Although many were disappointed due to the minor Mac Pro update, many were also satisfied by the upgrade of Apple's portable lineup, the Air and Pro. Also, Apple introduced the fruition of the so-called Retina-resolution Macs. See the banner? That's the one. Although it's stunningly beautiful, that thing ain't come cheap... See the specs after the break and you'll find out :D

Jailbreak 5.1.1 is LIVE! [GUIDE]

Image
If you guys have the new iPad, iPad2, or the iPhone4S stuck in the 5.1.1 firmware, and waiting for jailbreak, rejoice! The time has come! Yesterday, the ChronicDev Team members @pod2g, @pimskeks, and @planetbeing managed to release the Absinthe 2.0. This tool is your 'magic wand' to free your iDevices. This tool supports all iDevices except: iPad2 WiFi R2 (It's a new model), AppleTV2, and AppleTV3 . If you own these devices, I guess you'll have to wait longer... You can download the tool here (Current version is 2.0.1). There's all you need for jailbreaking, but if you're on Windows and need a guide, after the break there's a quick guide that I've already tried myself:

iPad2 n iPhone4S Jailbreak is Live! [GUIDE]

Okay, so I've bought an iPad2 a few months ago. It's sleek, fast, and overall, I'm satisfied with it (although it's kind of limited... ._.). I was just trying to experience an iPad, so I bought a mediocre choice: 32GB Wi-Fi Only. But that's not the only reason... I've already got 3 3G devices. If I had bought another 3G device, my parents would slit my throat (not literally, though :p) It's been a struggle for the dev teams to actually find out an exploit for a jailbreak. I still remember my first jailbreak, when it was @Comex who made it using jailbreakme.com. It's the easiest. Sadly, after the firmware 4.3.3, his exploit became useless. Worry not, since another hacker nicknamed pod2g , along with some friends who are popular in the jailbreaking field( p0sixninja , planetbeing , MuscleNerd ,and pimskeks ), they manage to create the jailbreak app for these A5 devices.
