Well, I know that this sounds like a fanboy article, but the truth is... I'm looking for a topic to write, since I've become quite bored on my limited holiday. There are tons of tasks I wanted to do during the holiday, but just like most teenagers in my country, I've been procrastinating until the last few days of my precious holiday. I just want to share some of my stories. If you think this is a fanboy article, you're welcome to leave. But before that, please note that I'm sick of hearing fanatics defending their favorite brands. It's just a company, geez. If they make good products, good for you. If they don't, then don't waste your time defending it or aimlessly point out other products' faults. Companies and competitions are there for our benefits. ASUS VivoTab, One of Available 'Convertible Laptops' No doubt, technology is becoming more and more advanced as it is getting more and more fascinating as time goes. The end of 2012 was the beginning of 'hybrid laptops' era, or also known as convertibles, or anything else you want to call a laptop with detachable display. These convertibles have been around since Windows 7, but only recently, they've become available to more audience, and their price is getting more and more reasonable. Initially, I had nothing against it... except for the fact that most affordable ones are powered by Atom processors. But after owning one (Acer Iconia W510), I changed my mind. This low-end offering from Intel is improving. It's certainly not a gaming powerhouse, but it handles Office applications pretty well. Of course, you wouldn't think of playing Crysis 3 on a sub U$700 tablet, right? Moreover, their designs seem to be kind of futuristic, regardless of the materials...

In case you don't know what a USB Hub is, it's an accessory that allows you to 'multiply' one of your USB ports to more than one (usually 4 ports). Anyway, I thought that way because my old Dell Inspiron has 4 USB ports. That's more than enough for me. In fact, I was surprised that there are only a handful of laptops that actually have 4 USB ports, regardless which version of USB it has. Now, I have two additional computers: a MacBook Pro and an Acer Iconia W510 tablet. Both of them have limited USB ports; in fact, I have to use an OTG cable for the latter. That fact forces me to finally turn to USB Hub. Yesterday, on Christmas day, I came across this little product. It's pretty rare to see a hub that uses USB 3.0 ports, so I decided to take a look. It was a little bit pricey, but I thought it was going to be worth it in the coming years. USB 3.0 device...

No offense intended, though... I got quite many presents this year. I don't think I've been a good kid this year, but I'm really grateful for the presents. In fact, I'm so grateful that I'm willing to post a review on one of them. It's between expensive and inexpensive, but it's really useful nonetheless. So, why pick the term 'Blue Christmas'? It's quite simple really. The main reason is that the country where I reside, Indonesia, is a tropical country. It has no snow, so there's no way I can say 'Merry White Christmas', ever. First of all, I don't know if the title is appropriate enough, since the assignment module here tells me to write about what I think of my Service Learning group. Anyway, before we move on to the content, I'll explain what Service Learning is first. Service Learning is actually a form of community service, where we, participants of Interpersonal Communication lecture, go out and teach lower-to-middle-class schools about IT (Information Technology). Each class goes to a different school, and each is class is divided into several groups. Finally, each group is given different materials and classes to teach. In my case, my group was told to teach a class of ninth graders about networking. And I think we made it through. Enough with the introduction. Windows 8 has been around us for quite a while. Yes, many people don't like its new design and the loss of Start Menu, which disappoints most veteran Windows users out there. I myself don't like the tile-centric Start Menu, at least until I learn to live with it. Heck, if it hadn't been caused by its superb and light performance, I would have already got back to Windows 7. Then Windows 8.1 came along and it's said to bring back the Start button that usually sits on the left-bottom corner of your display. It's still in Beta, though; scheduled to arrive in October. He's Right. Today, something I thought very interesting has happened. It was so interesting in my opinion that I decided to write a post about it. It has something to do with the header image above. That's right... It's about underestimating something. There are many sayings that imply that underestimating things eventually lead to a negative outcome. Those sayings have been proven. However, despite many concrete evidence (one of which is Napoleon's defeat against Russia in around 1812), many people still underestimate things, let it be subjects, work, tasks, etc. I myself am no exception. But be warned, though. This is just a personal opinion that I decided to write as a blog post, and I have no intention to offend anyone through any meaning. It'll be just a blabber from me, so if reading other people's opinion isn't your cup of tea, then I'm afraid this isn't right for you. You're welcome to read anytime, though.
