Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (Late) Review: A Surprising Package

Image
We all know that smartphones have become a necessity. Maybe back in 2010, smartphones are luxurious gadgets only lucky people can afford. However, as time flies and smartphone markets become more and more mature, the cost of smartphone decreases. Now, almost all people can afford a smartphone (there's even a ridiculously cheap smartphone in India. Google it.). Redmi Note 2 Official Shots Anyway, the proof of smartphone market maturity is evident from how powerful current mid-rangers are. Low-end smartphones also have become more powerful, with minimum of 1GB RAM and dual-core processor. I'm not going to talk about that. I'm going to talk about one prime example of how mid-rangers should be. Slick, powerful, gorgeous, and of course... affordable, but not cheap. That example is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Features in a nutshell Alright, I'm getting more and more subjective here. But really, guys, all subjective things I've said aside, I'm really impressed...

A Take on Current Smartphone Industry

Image
Okay, this article serves as some kind of an editorial–my own comments and take towards a specific topic. The first article I officially consider as such. While I don't have an academic skills to prove this, I have my own reasons, and promise to be as objective as I can. To make it more credible, I'll also try to include some supporting data. A brief history of cell phone prices throughout the decade taken from  timetoast.com Too small? Click the image above to zoom in. Anyway, the year is now 2016. Cell phones are no longer expensive. Cell phones are no longer for the rich and for show off. Well, at least most of them aren't now. Additionally, cell phones are no longer a tertiary necessity. Cell phones are now primary necessity and now I dare you to comment if you're not using a cell phone. On second thought, don't. You're going to spam my mailbox if you do so. Just consider yourself a very capable survivalist, for not having even a single cell phone. ...

Andromax M2S Late Review: Quality Components = Quality Product?

Image
I originally wanted to review this little gadget last year, a few weeks after it came up. However, as usual, laziness, jobs, and thoughts about thesis overpowered me. So, instead of reviewing this device, I ended up abusing it instead :p. However, thanks to that, I think now I know how I feel about this device. Enjoy the review! Though it's a little bit late... Smartfren's Current LTE Mi-Fi Lineup If you live in Indonesia, I'm sure you know about Smartfren. It's probably the only CDMA operator left in the country (after Flexi's acquisition by Telkomsel and Esia's bankruptcy. Esia's dead, isn't it? CMIIW), and the highest-growing LTE operator. Highest-growing? Yes. Compared to major GSM operators (such as Telkomsel, XL Axiata, and Indosat), Smartfren has the largest LTE coverage to date. It's amazing, considering how one of the major operators had a head start, but still loses to the CDMA operator. One of M2S Ads Anyway, to let people use ...

Migration: A Story

Image
Okay, as promised, here's my story which serves as a background why I returned to Blogger. As I told you earlier in  this  story, I've just recently migrated my blog from Blogger to Wordpress. Simple to say, I want more content, more flexibility, and more features. That's why I opted to get my own hosting account instead of registering a wordpress.com account. I chose a hosting based on my own country thinking that it would be faster. It's cheap, yes, and I get unlimited storage and bandwidth for less. Besides, I had 50% discount for my first year, so I thought, "What can I lose?" Setting up WordPress on the hosting account was painless. You just need to click here and there, type a few things about your site, and it's all good. Setting up themes and appearance? Well, not so easy. Setting the theme was easy, but customizing it wasn't. Honestly, I'm not a design-oriented person, so I tend to get confused so easily and not patient enough to care...

Is Your Xiaomi Power Bank Genuine?

Image
Illustration Well, Folks... I apologize for taking a very long time publishing something that I promised "won't take long". Things came up and I couldn't simply ignore them. Anyway, as promised, I have a few ways to determine whether your Xiaomi power bank is genuine or not. As I mentioned in my previous article, there are a handful of counterfeit power banks not only here in Indonesia, but also worldwide. You can head out after the break to find out how to differentiate whether your unit is fake or genuine. Update: Sorry about the long delay. I thought the draft wasn't ready yet, but today I reviewed the draft and it's 98% complete. Once again, I apologize for the delay and happy Lunar New Year!

Decision to Revert and Return

Okay, referring to my previous decision here to move to a “better place” aka self-hosted WordPress site, I have come across a problem of having difficulties to set things up. I’m going to write about it later. However for now, I would like to announce to resurrect this old blog (though I never said I would kill this blog… Thank God for that.)

Migrating To A New Site

Well, guys. This is going to be the last post in this blog. (Update: Last post? I don't think so. I've decided to return on this blog. Consider this post old and obsolete! :D) No, I'm not giving up on the whole blogging thing. It's just... I am migrating to a new site. For the record, I'm currently a part time web developer in a company and my job inclines more and more to Wordpress. I've grown familiarized with setting up Wordpress, Woocommerce, and even developing their plugins, although I still have a long way to go. I'm frankly amazed at how flexible and customizable Wordpress is, even though it's much harder to fix problems compared to traditional, self-sourced web app. You can instantly set up a site, write a new plugin that makes the site do what you want (it does take some time, and sometimes your plugin may conflict other plugins), or just start adding content to your sites. There are also themes that make your designing life easier and ...
